The Dermapen is the latest development in medical skin needling. The automatic vibrating function of the Dermapen™ increases dermal needling speed, effectiveness & absorption of products, while reducing discomfort.
Dermapen™ is faster, and more effective than the Dermaroller and its results are comparable to ablative treatments such as Fraxel, Laser Resurfacing and Chemical peels with recovery and down time can be significantly less. Dermapen prompts the natural release of the skin’s collagen and elastin for amazing anti-aging benefits, all without surgery!
As the Dermapen stamps over your skin, it creates micro-point punctures in the skin, the majority of which are simply pushing your pores open temporarily. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. Your skin reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process. You encourage your skin to continue healing through this micro-needling process.
Your skin normally assumes that scars, stretch marks and wrinkles are repaired, but with the Dermapen auto-stamp micro-needling treatments, the skin is tricked into repairing the skin.
The results from micro-needling skin remodelling can go on for months after each Dermapen treatment. Results can be seen within a week and up to 8 weeks. Your skin naturally heals itself every 45 days, so with a little micro-needling stimulation changes can be dramatic and fast
How many Dermapen treatments are needed?
Your medical professional can consult you on a prescribed treatment. Different skin conditions need specific treatment regimens, as well as being affected by the age of each patient. 2-3 aggressive Dermapen treatments will provide a noticeable difference, however 5-6 Dermapen treatments will show the most dramatic results. It is important to work with your practitioner on what treatment specifics to observe. Once the treatment has the desired effect, it is important to maintain collagen stimulation by returning to your practitioner, or performing a new Dermapen treatment every 12-24 weeks.
Does a Dermapen treatment hurt?
There are two treatments for Dermapen. One treatment involves the use of cream to numb the area, followed by more aggressive, deep use of Dermapen. The second treatment involves using Dermapen at a shallower depth and numbing cream is not needed. You may find temporary redness of the skin for up to a day, depending upon the skin and type of treatment. Specially formulated creams can be used before and after a Dermapen treatment to minimize this.
Visible results of skin rejuvenation are generally seen after just 6-8 weeks following the procedure and improve further over time. A course of Dermapen sessions is usually recommended to achieve optimum results; however skin improvement is noticeable after just one treatment.
Is Dermapen safe?
Skin needling does not involve injections and therefore allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely to occur. It is minimally invasive, involves minimal downtime (circa 24 hrs), rapid healing and requires simple after-care.
Side effects experienced with Dermapen will usually subside within 48 hours. They include erythema, stinging, itching, tightness of the skin.

| Day 2: | A red hue or pink hue persists like a moderate sunburn. Swelling may be more noticeable on the second day. |
| Day 3: | Skin can be pink or normal color. Swelling subsides. |
After care:
CLEAN – Use a soothing cleanser or face wash with tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 48 hours and dry gently. Always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area.
HEAL – Copper-based skincare is recommended post-treatment as the mineral properties are perfect to help heal the skin but will also create a sterile skin too. Resveratrol-based products can help soothe the skin and lessen irritation.
HYDRATE – Following your Dermapen treatment, the skin may feel drier than normal. Hyaluronic Acid is an ideal ingredient to hydrate and restore the skin back to perfect balance.
STIMULATE – In the days following your Dermapen treatment, as the skin starts to regenerate, collagen-stimulating peptides are ideal to keep the simulation going
MAKE-UP – It is recommended that make up is not applied for 12 hours after the procedure although your practitioner may be able to supply you with specialized mineral make-up that they feel would be suitable for use during this period. Do not apply any make-up with a make-up brush, especially if it is not clean.
PROTECT – Immediately after the procedure apply a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with a SPF30. A chemical-free sunscreen is highly recommended
